Clearvision Fascias, Soffits & Bargeboards Peterborough

Here we will look at some of the most frequent questions our Peterborough customers have regarding fascias, soffits and bargeboards. If you are thinking of replacing your fascias and soffits, and would like a quote or just a chat, please use our contact form.

Are Fascia Boards and Bargeboards the same?

Fascia boards are usually located behind the guttering and are always horizontal whereas a bargeboard is typically located on an apex gable end, otherwise the two are very similar.

Can I cap over the old fascia boards?

You should only really consider capping over the old fascia boards if they are in very good condition and dry. Capping over rotten fascia boards will speed up the rotting process. Clearvision Peterborough recommend replacing your old fascias.

What thickness fascia board do you recommend?

We recommend replacing your fascias with boards of 16mm, 18mm or 20mm. If you are capping over old fascias (which are in good dry condition) then you can use a 10mm fascia board. These thicknesses are necessary because fascias are load bearing and hold the weight of the roof tiles. Soffits however are not load bearing and usually come in 10mm as standard.

Why do some fascia installations have rusty marks?

This happens when a roofline installer uses normal nails as this results in the fixings becoming rusty. We only use high quality stainless steel fixings with colour-matched heads to ensure that your soffits and fascias are fixed securely and maintain a clean appearance.

Can you colour-match my fascias and soffits to my windows?

Generally soffits and fascias are manufactured to a universal colour scheme and come in many variations of woodgrain, mahogany, golden oak and rosewood etc. There are also white variations such as ice white and cream white. If you would like us to show you some samples for colour matching purposes, please contact us.
